Hi, I’m Tony Buckle. For my entire life, I have proudly been able to call Corner Brook my home. I previously served on Corner Brook City Council from 2013-2021 and it was one of the greatest honours of my life. However, after careful consideration, I believe there is more to be done, and I have decided to run again to continue building a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous Corner Brook.
I am currently serving as Vice President of the Western Sno-Riders Association, lifetime member of the Corner Brook West Sports Club (Monarchs), past member of the Corner Brook Kinsmen Club, past Chairperson of the Corner Brook Winter Carnival Committee, and have served on many other non-profit organizations throughout Corner Brook.
Some of my proudest accomplishments while serving on council are bringing forward the idea for the new splashpad at Margaret Bowater Park, the Cash for Cups program to assist with the cleanup of the city, being the lead counselor for the idea of the Jigs & Wheels Festival, taking place every year for the last 4 years, promoting ATV routes throughout the city, and the initiative in place for a new bandstand at Bartlett’s Point Park. These are just a few of my accomplishments.
With a record of accountability, a deep understanding of local priorities, and with great teamwork, I pledge to focus on new economic development for the city, more opportunities for our youth to move forward, improvements to the Broadway/Downtown area, create opportunities for current and new small businesses, and work with all government departments to receive funding for a new wastewater treatment plant.
I invite all residents to share their concerns, ideas and hopes for the future of Corner Brook. Together, I believe we can shape a brighter future for everyone.
Thank you, and on October 2nd vote Buckle Tony.
