Mayoral candidate and current councillor Pamela Gill, 55, has called Corner Brook home for 31 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (English/French), MUN; Bachelor of Journalism, University of King’s College; Master of Education, MUN; and a Master’s Certificate (Project Management), York University. Her employment includes: 28 years as Manager of Communications; Grenfell Campus, Memorial University; Public Relations Specialist, Western Health Care Corporation; and Reporter/Editor, The Western Star. She has held positions as board member, Western Regional Service Board; Chair, Theatre Newfoundland Labrador; Zone 5 Trustee for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District; Secretary, Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade and board member, Canadian Parents for French. As a mayoral candidate, Pamela looks forward to thinking “outside the box” when it comes to:
• Strengthening communication with residents
• Reviewing street/curb/gutter needs
• Developing/implementing affordable housing program
• Increasing tax breaks/incentives for small businesses
• Investigating new tourism markets
• Recruiting and retaining new businesses and families
• Developing a four-year waterfront rehabilitation plan
• Advocating for primary and mental health supports
• Continuing to protect our environment and watershed
