Hello, my name is Geoff Sparkes and I’m asking for your support to represent you, the residents and taxpayers of our great City.
I am 48 years old, and was born and raised here in Corner Brook. I’m the son of Willoughby and Marie (Mitchell) Sparkes (both deceased).
They were parents of 9 children and I’m the youngest of the family. The strong values of our parents have been instilled in all of their children, and I continue to strive for honesty and accountability within the community. Along with my wife Carolyn, we are the proud parents of Jessica and Jonathan, and we hope the future of Corner Brook is vibrant, viable and sustainable for our children and hopefully someday our grandchildren.
I am currently employed with the RNC as a Communications Technician, as well as a driving instructor and School bus driver. I was a Firefighter with Corner Brook for 18 years and have a vast knowledge of the City operations, it’s policies and administration. In 2023, I was awarded the WorkplceNL Safety Leadership Award for Workers as a Firefighter with the CBFD.
I am currently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and have volunteered on the executive of Corner Brook Minor Hockey. I spent many years playing various sports, and continue to enjoy watching my daughter and son play their favourites. Our sporting community is an important part of Corner Brook and I hope to build on that if elected to Council.
Our senior population needs our support and care, and I hope to bring their issues and ideas to the table as well. Our budgets need to reflect the demographics of our City, and the core service needs of our residents, while also creating opportunity for business and industrial growth.
I will be a strong voice on Council, seeking out fairness and accountability for you, the residents of Corner Brook. Thank you for your support!
